Just what catalyzed the American mid-twentieth-century ceramics movement is still a matter of debate, but one thing is clear: between 1956 and 1962, a number of adventurous potters left mugs and tea pots behind and opened up the vast potential for clay as an expressive material. Within a decade, ceramics had been elevated to fine art status and could address the most contemporary issues of the day.
It is generally acknowledged that the rise of ceramic sculpture began primarily on the West Coast, the residence of the country’s two most important pioneers, Peter Voulkos and Robert Arneson. In Los Angeles during the late 1950s, Voulkos drew from Abstract Expressionist tenets of experimentation, raw physicality, and spontaneity to produce his first non-vessel sculptures.

Effective January 1, 2006
If you are a XXX member and also have coverage under Medicare Part A and/or Medicare Part B your outpatient prescription drug coverage will no longer be covered by XXX after January 1, 2006. You will, however, continue to have drug coverage under the new Medicare Part D drug benefit.
Please note that XXX will still pay for your other health costs not covered by Medicare. Before the start of the program Medicare will send you information about choosing a Medicare prescription drug plan (as there may be more than one to choose from). If you do not choose a plan by November 15, 2005, Medicare will choose a plan for you. If you have questions about the new Medicare drug plan, you can call Medicare at (800) 633-4227 or visit Medicare on the Internet at www.medicare.gov.
