Mr. Pagnawath Khun
My name is Pagnawath Khun, and I am a full-time freelance English-to-Khmer and Khmer-to-English translator. A native of Cambodia, I studied at the Royal University of Agriculture in Cambodia, receiving a bachelor's degree in 2001. I also studied at the Secondary School of Business and obtained a degree in Business Administration in 1998. My career path shifted toward journalism after leaving school, and my ongoing work experience and continued training at the Cambodia Communications Institute showed me where my true skills and goals lay - in intracultural and cross-cultural communications. My first job in this vein began in 2000 as a reporter for the Business News, an English-language business weekly in Phnom Penh, Cambodia . My English and journalism skills led me to a newscasting position at National Television of Cambodia (TVK), where I was the lead broadcaster for the network's News and World Report program, the only nationally televised news program broadcast exclusively in English. During that same period I sharpened my translation skills working on a wide variety of translation projects for a private firm and for Cambodia's National Elections Committee. In these capacities I translated official reports, contracts, executive summaries, VIP speeches, and many other documents, both official and unofficial. In late 2002, I moved to the U.S. and became involved with the work of the United Khmer Communities in the State of Washington; I also worked as a reporter/correspondent for the Seattle-based Cambodian News newspaper until 2003. I have since relocated to California, and I am currently a member in good standing of The National Association of Judiciary Interpreters and Translators (NAJIT). In this capacity, I have been performing translation work for private clients, law offices and more than 200 translation companies and agencies worldwide. I am ready and available for any Khmer translation jobs you have. I consider my business partners as team members and family members, and I value quality and timeliness above all else. I aim to meet the strictest definition of professionalism, one in which both myself and the client are both 100% pleased with my work. My professional background and education have been heavily influenced by a number of world-renowned international conferences and forums in which I have participated, including: **The Indochina Media Memorial Foundation's journalism training course on Urban Environmental Reporting, held the at Chiang Mai University in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand; **The German Foundation for International Development's international training course on Poverty Reduction in Munich, Germany. **The International Association of Traffic and Safety Sciences' International Forum on the Modernization of Japan, in Suzuka City and Tokyo, Japan; **An intensive TV/media production training course **And other short journalism training programs in the United States. =============================== For questions and further information, please call me at Tel: +1-(562) 965-0886 (outside the U.S.) Inside the U.S., call (562) 965-0886 Fax: +1-(562)-262-2821 or e-mail me at: [email protected]. =============================== Thank you and hope to hear from you.
