Italian term

LOC

Italian to English Bus/Financial Business/Commerce (general)
Hi all -

I am wondering if this abbreviation might mean "località"? Or something I am not thinking of.

It is part of a heading of a business document with a list of place names.

"a Brindisi, loc. Campobasso, Erchie (BR), loc. Liti, San Pietro Vernotico (BR), loc. Leanzi"

(The above appeared all in caps by the way so I am guessing at the capitalizations.)

I would welcome any suggestions!

Thanks!

Agree with Marco Località
Marco Solinas Sep 21, 2010:
Località Yes, it is an abbreviation for "località". It can indicate a hamlet, a rural assembly of houses or farms, sometimes just and individual large farm.

Reverse order but don't translate

My address in England was: Romford (Essex), località Gidea Park, were Romford is the municipality, Essex the county and Gidea Park the district, However, the address was written as always in English starting from the smallest (house number) and finishing with the largest:
"Gidea Park, Romford, Essex"

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thanks for the explanation - and that "district" is the best English rendering of the word."

località indeed. My daughter's address on the island of Ischia is e.g. written as "Forio, loc. Panza", whereby Forio is the municipality and Panza one of its several sectors/districts/localities.
