Discussion

writeaway Apr 4, 2012:
does it explain what she's supposed to do? Clearly she is there as some sort of receptionist. In times not so long ago, the job title 'hôtesse' was used for women who worked in 'immo' and greeted clients, showed them the properties and filled in the rental/sales contracts/leases.
monbuckland (asker) Apr 4, 2012:
It's not really a sentence, more a list of services provided:
Mettez la sécurité de cette soirée entre de bonnes mains :
pack de base: 1 hôtesse de communication, 1 éthylotest et ses embouts à usage unique, 4 chauffeurs, 3 heures de présence
B D Finch Apr 4, 2012:
Whatever it is called the subtext in the use of the feminine "hotesse" unfortunately implies that it is a low-paid job.
writeaway Apr 4, 2012:
Please post the whole sentence in French It may be more helpful to see the actual French sentence as it appears in the text. Maybe even the sentence before and/or after.
writeaway Apr 3, 2012:
if it's not just a fancy word for contact person not much context showing in French, but here's one explanation

Selected

communications/service coordinator and dispatcher

In the security services context this could be the someone who handles all service related calls/enquiries and redirects them as appropriate and/or is also responsible for despatching field personnel as needed, thus "communications/service coordinator and dispatcher" is generic and broad enough to fit...

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thanks to everyone for your suggestions - I think they could probably all be used in different contexts."

Telemarketer

Employee using the phone to contact potential customers and set them up for an appointment with one of their sales rep
Note from asker:
Thanks - but I'm not sure how this would fit with a security package for a customer who will obviously be known and have agreed to buy it by this stage.

reception and switchboard (operator)

since this is a security company there is obviously some form of phone alert if there is a breach of security. The receptionist can then contact the necessary keyholders etc.

They are probably also part telemarketer for people who call the number and try to sell them added services.

Event Receptionist or Event Hostess

I have another guess: a regular event receptionist/hostess. She wouldn't be on the phone, she would be at the event.

Event Receptionist/Hostess are often the first and the last impression of the event. They create a warm and inviting atmosphere for guests and event attendees.
