The Job Traveler is the document that, as the name implies, travels with the product through the various stages of production. The traveler gives production personnel basic information about what is to be produced, when it is due, materials required and its path through production. Along with the traveler would be any supplemental information that is required such as part drawings, packaging specs and inspection records. All of this information will travel through production with the product, to shipping when complete and land back in the production office. Production control will verify that production is complete, ensure all materials have been issued and close the work order in the ERP system.
