Portuguese term

em otidor

Portuguese to English Marketing Marketing Verbatims
Hi everyone,

I am hoping for a little help with a few terms I am struggling with. I have posted them in separate questions.

I am translating the verbatims from a market research survey regarding an advert for a beer brand. The translation is from Brazilian Portuguese into UK English.

The question asked was “Other than trying to get you to buy the product, what was the one main idea of the beer ad you have just seen?”

The response is "mais propaganda em otidor". Would this be a spelling error for "em outdoor"?

I would greatly appreciate any help anyone can provide.

Many thanks,

Kerryann

Hi Kerryann, I'm pretty sure the person meant "outdoor" :)

Esses cartazes de estrada NÃO SE CHAMAM "outdoor" em inglês. Só em português do Brasil os chamamos assim. Não fará sentido algum chamá-los de "outdoor" em inglês.

outdoors (outdoor advertising)

I think the assumption that this is a typographical error is correct. 'outdoors' makes complete sense in this context.

See references below for publicidade em "outdoors"<i/> translated as outdoor advertising<i/>.

Ooops! Sorry - the html went a bit wrong there and the and <i/> tags should have made 'outdoor advertising' appear in italics. Please ignore them ;)
