Edith Kelly Mar 28, 2015:
Johanna I entered: possibility of cure. You seemed to have found this but you agreed with another answer.
Ramey Rieger (X) Mar 26, 2015:
@Edith That was intentional, assuming the field is law.
Edith Kelly Mar 26, 2015:
Heilung in a legal context (from a lawsuit) is cure. But that's not in a medical context.
Lancashireman Mar 26, 2015:
Asker Are you looking for Heilungsmöglichkeit or mögliche Heilung?
Edith Kelly Mar 26, 2015:
Ramey Stephen's and your own that you must inadvertently have deleted
Ramey Rieger (X) Mar 26, 2015:
Which two? I escaped....
Lancashireman Mar 26, 2015:
Two answers already in... ...based on the assumption that this is medical related. Are they right?

Possibility of/options for successfully treating (a medical condition)

I have certainly seen this German term in legal/medical texts before but it is a difficult one to translate succinctly. As so often in German to English translations, you have to expand the phrase. Depending on the context and the emphasis required, I would say the possibility of, or the options for treating the medical condition. One online dictionary - I think it was cc. dict. - just translates this phrase as "curability." This is not a word I have heard very often.
Peer comment(s):

disagree Edith Kelly : Stephen, not medical here

disagree Maria S. Loose, LL.M. : it's not a medical but a legal term

German term (edited): Heilungsmöglichkeit

opportunity for a cure/to cure a formal defect

"If the parties choose, for example, German law for the purchase contract relating to a Spanish plot of land, from the German viewpoint, the form requirement in section 313 of the Civil Code is also applied; this is to say that the [...] purchase contract must be notarised.71 Nevertheless, an opportunity for a cure exists in section 313, sentence 2 of the Civil Code."

"Heilung (Recht)

"to cure a formal defect" [of an agreement/contract] - "einen Formfehler heilen" [Vertrag] (law)

Andere, rechtliche Bedeutung von "cure":
"cure" [under Uniform Commercial Code] - "Nacherfüllung" (law)
"cure period" [under Uniform Commercial Code] - "Nacherfüllungsfrist" (law)

agree Johanna Timm, PhD : convincing references! I also found "possibility of cure" http://goo.gl/S04b2M

German term (edited): Heilungsmöglichkeit

option/opportunity for making good

I had this in a similar context (Law) a couple of days ago, and this is what I used. No complaints from the client so far...

Or 'remedy' which is less ambiguous than the current leader.
Remedial options
Cure defects or remedy defects? I know which of these two makes more sense to a native speaker of English.
