I was inspired by some usages I saw on Linguee and picked this as the best option. "mejores prácticas" makes a stronger claim than "state of the art", as the English term means what is prevalent or predominant, and not necessarily what is best.

I don’t think so, Tim. When, say, a company boasts of its “state-of -the-art technology,” it is in effect saying that “our technology is the very best currently available” and *not* that “we are offering the exact same technology as almost everyone else.”

Discussion
Pienso que si se tratara de las prácticas, sería claramente "according to the best practices" o "according to up-to-date practices"; interpreto el texto como lo mencioné: una clausula que obliga al prestador de servicio a que, al momento de la finalización del contrato, los equipos sujetos al mismo no sean tecnologicamente obsoletos, en cualquier sentido.
Algo como (por ejemplo), "El hecho que los sistemas hayan sido instalados con equipos bajo sistema operativo Windows XP no significa que los mismos deban permanecer con el mismo OS al momento de la finalización del servicio."
