Front-end and back-end are generalized terms that refer to the initial and the end stages of a process. The front-end is responsible for collecting input in various forms from the user and processing it to conform to a specification the back-end can use. The front-end is a kind of interface between the user and the back-end.

se pare ca sintagma e atat de incetatenita (la "ei") incat circula frecvent sub forma acronimului (vei gasi multiple referinte) FEED- front-end engineering and design. am impresia ca e vorba de o faza preliminara a proiectarii.

étant le processus à travers lequel est établie une définition
détaillée du projet pour répondre aux objectifs du Client.
Cette notion a été développée et promue par la société américaine
Independent Project Analysis Inc. (IAP).
Il est évident que le processus FEL aura besoin d'être achevé
avant même l'autorisation et l'approbation financière d'un
projet.
