Poporul/popoarele celtice din Insulele Hebride
Daca e vorba de cei care au trait acolo pana in sec al XII-lea (vedeti mai jos).
Poporul se numeste Hebridean (Celts).
An island group of western and northwest Scotland in the Atlantic Ocean, divided into the Inner Hebrides, closer to the Scottish mainland, and the Outer Hebrides, to the northwest. The original Celtic inhabitants were conquered by Scandinavians, particularly Norwegians, who ruled the islands until 1266. Native Scottish chieftains controlled the Hebrides until the 16th century, when the
islands passed to the kingdom of Scotland.
By REACHING OUT to the communities in the Outer Hebrides, RECORDING lore from the oral tradition bearers and INVOLVING the Islands’ young people THE HEBRIDEAN FOLKLORE PROJECT is making a difference. We are CREATING AN INTERNATIONAL AWARENESS of the importance of inter-generational relationships, the value of these stories and of storytelling in general. These Tales are TOLD, HEARD, RETOLD AND SHARED thanks to this work and all the good folk involved.
u
The Project began in 1995 as a vision to help preserve and continue the endangered oral traditions and folklore of the Outer Hebrides.
Since 1996, the Project has spent over 9 months, in all seasons, researching and recording the oral traditions of; Barra, South Uist, Benbecula, North Uist, Berneray Harris and Scalpay.
Many hours have been spent beside a peat fire with ears a’glow, listening to the Elders share generations of stories in their native language Gaelic.
