Female Circumcision. Removal of the hood of the clitoris. This is directly analogous to male circumcision and is performed when the clitoral hood is too thick or long and inhibits stimulus of the clitoris during intercourse. The term was incorrectly applied by some early anthropologists to the complete removal of the female sexual parts.
