In the US I can still buy a book of stamps from a liquor store or a supermarket;what bothers me, is the steady price increase.

Interesting... That sounds like a sub post office, if it's inside a shop. Next time I go to my local one I'm going to demand an explanation as to why they don't do books any more! I hate buying them singly, they always drop out of my wallet.

Peter I bought them from a "post office", incorporated in a WHSmith book shop. The prices have gone up though :). Better with the e-mail, though, not always possible.

To Alla... Did you get them from a post office or a shop? I always get stamps from my local post office, but it's only a sub-post office - still, I was amazed when they said they didn't sell books any more. I'll have to start going to the shop instead :)

Dialogul pare sa aiba loc la un oficiu postal. De cele mai multe ori preferi sa cumperi un set de timbre, ca sa nu fii nevoit sa te duci la posta de fiecare data cand trimiti o scrisoare.

UK Here, a "book of first-class stamps" isn't exactly a book, since it doesn't have any "pages". You can see a picture of one here: http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/41094000/jpg/_41094804... (it's been twisted a bit, though). You used to be able to buy "books" of either 6 or 12 first-class stamps, but post offices no longer seem to sell stamps in books. I can only buy them individually now from my local PO.

Books of stamps aka "booklets" are only issued with a special theme - Xmas or the Olympics and whatnot - they are collectibles but can be also used at face value.
