No estoy muy seguro si "según lo requiera el calentamiento de la caldera mientras está funcionando" sería una buena traducción para este caso.

Sí. Así como lo tienes o simplemente... El sistema monitorea y controla la entrada de aire para la combustión en el quemador según lo requiera el calentador/calefactor durante su operación/cuando está funcionando.

O quizas funcionaría mejor si lo dejara como:
"según lo requerido por el calentamiento de la caldera"; no obstante me parece que a "calentamiento" le haría falta un complemento, quizás "[proceso de] calentamiento de la caldera"
