The author defines "telekeza". He says: telekeza (literally "to make to pour in", signifying that water has to be carried in gourds), which means cooking and eating before starting, sleeping anywhere...
My questions are:
- How would you translate "to make to pour in"
- What "water has to be carried in gourds" has to do with cooking and eating before starting?
I have searched "telekeza" in an En-Swahili dictionary and it says:

Lo interpreto así:
Es cuando se hace un alto en una expedición para preparar la comida y tomársela.. Se lleva agua para cocinar, para hervir los alimentos tras hacer fuego.
Lo que tú das son dos acciones diferentes (no me extraña pues tu duda):
1º) "to make to pour in" > llenar los recipientes de agua.
2º) hacer un alto para comer: se hace fuego y se prepara la comida con el agua.
Una cosa es cómo interpreta el autor el término "telekeza", y otra distinta el significado que da el diccionario
"Swahili-English".
Mi pregunta (y tal vea la tuya) es, ¿quién tiene razón...?
El verbo swahili "teleka", de donde deriva "telekeza" significa BOIL,
COOK, PUT ON THE FIRE.
TO MAKE (intr.) = ir, dirigirse,
disponerse a, prepararse para...
POUR IN = llegar en abundancia, entrar a raudales.
GOURD es un recipiente hecho de la corteza de una calabaza,vamos, una calabaza hueca.
También una botella, recipiente de plástico o cristal.
Donde se lleva el agua necesaria para preparar la comida.
