English term

a cause to be collectively decided at the ‘thing’

English to Spanish Social Sciences Philosophy
One way to summarize this argument is to remind oneself that in both Old English and Old German the word for ‘thing’ meant a case, a controversy, a cause to be collectively decided at the ‘thing’, the assembly or forum.

Discussion

P.S.: The icelandic letter Þ is pronounced as english th in thing or z in most parts of Spain.
"Thing" occurs twice in your xentence. In this second case, you have to translate "Thing" or "Ting", because, as I already mentioned, it is a terminus technicus, cf. http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Þing

Causa/Cosa - Thing

Thing is a terminus technicus which is still used when describing historical jurisdictional institutions.

Note from asker:
Gracias!!
