I would think this would be a simpler machine than one that moulds plastic into complex shapes. There's a difference between thermoforming and thermofolding.
I don't know where the "règle" fits in except that I would see this as the simplest type of machine where you just bend the plastic against a straight line (or rule). Can't find a picture of one that simple, though.

rules for plastification
Terrible word "plastification", but that's what we do on our machine to create marketing book marks. Paper enclosed in plastic.
