French term

conduit en surpression

French to English Other Electronics / Elect Eng
The type of "conduit" used for a restaurant kitchen extractor unit. I'm afraid that's the only context I have. The term appears in some specifications for tenants of retail units in a shopping centre, which stipulates what the extractor unit must be made of and then goes onto say "Compte tenu de la particularité des installations (conduit en surpression) une attention particuliere sera apportée a la qualité des joints de trappes de visite pour éviter toute propagation d'odeur".
Proposed translations (English)
4 duct under pressure
3 high pressure ducting

disagree GILLES MEUNIER : overpressure ?

'en surpression' is a common way of saying this in FR that I encounter very frequently in this sort of context. 'overpressure' wouldn't make any sense in this sort of context in EN.

high pressure ducting

This is talking about having a good seal to prevent any odour escaping, I think that duct is the best term but of course 'conduit' can also mean flue or pipe!

I hope this helps

Example sentence:

The high-pressure ducted units for Toshiba Super Modular Multi System can be used for air-conditioning of bigger objects

Peer comment(s):

neutral Tony M : This type of extract system doesn't usually use high pressure, in the way described in your ref., which is referring specifically to aircon.
