I've found an explanation in French -but would like the English term please.
On appelle "pièces d'aspect" tous produits soumis à de fortes contraintes en termes de géométrie et d'état de surface. La maîtrise des pièces d'aspect est une problématique qui concerne une très grande variété de secteurs industriels, depuis l'automobile ou l'aéronautique (aspect de la carrosserie ou du fuselage), jusqu'à la papeterie, l'industrie du cuir, en passant par l'horlogerie ou encore les implants biomédicaux...
I'm not sure if they are metal or plastic (maybe both). I found a translation on a French site as 'shaped' piece but don't have much confidence in that.

: Sorry, but if it's a guess then how did you arrive at level 3 confidence? Level 1 is reserved for guesses so the asker has an idea of how to decide on how to pursue the different options s/he's been given...

well the asker is getting paid to do the translation and i am not. also, the asker has way more information then me, therefore has the advantage of finding the best answer. finally, he/she holds responsibility for the translation, and not me.
