"Crépi" was traditionally a stucco, a plaster, a relatively thick wall coating. These days, "crépi" refers to finishes that fulfill the same purpose and have the same appearance but are made of different materials, which can be thinner :

: you're right, crépi is singular, crépis is plural - but I'd say exterior stucco rather than outside
