I'm translating a document concerning a paid internet referencing system which includes the following sentence as part of an explanation as to how the system works: "Toutes les annonces comportant les mots clefs en rapport avec la recherche sont alors *mises en concurrence* et les annonces les plus pertinents apparaissent sous l'intitulé "liens commerciaux"". Any suggestions would be much appreciated - thanks in advance!

I think you could simply use "compared" here, as in, the ads are compared against each other (they compete) to see which ones have the closest link to the search terms.
