French term

épaisseur

French to English Tech/Engineering Mathematics & Statistics (Offshore) construction/architecture
I have got myself very confused over this term. It appears several times in the post-grad student worksheet I'm translating on the maths and physics of offshore construction design. I'll paste the occurences below. At first I had translated it as 'ply' because 'thickness' didn't seem to fit, but now I'm not so sure! Some fresh eyes would be very useful :) Could it be something like pipe/tube width? I am hesitant because it talks about pipe diameter and OD (outside diameter) as a pipe classification.
