I have come across this a multitude of times, and am always tempted to translate it simply as "drawing". In British engineering, it's either the drawing or it isn't, but the French do love to spell things out. "Definition drawing" is a bit cumbersome; I suppose "master drawing" would cover it, but still slightly redundant.
