Hello,
I have put "limit position" for "position en dépassement"
but I'm not sure what to use for "dépassement" as in this sentence for instance:
"Par simple commodité de description, on considérera ici que le dépassement "..." correspond à un déplacement linéaire rectiligne en translation de la crémaillère dans le carter de direction,..."
overrunning?
The "dépassement" here, is the driving wheel going past the set threshold...I can't seem to find a suitable word for "dépassement", "past" isn't very technical ..
Thank you.

protrusion
I know this is often acceptable in an aviation context, in parts replacement procedures for example.
