Sorry, I have changed my mind again. :)
I think there is modification while on DDD pacing mode to, for example, an AAI mode. Hence: ''modification of the DDD pacing mode'' (into another mode before reverting back to the DDD pacing mode), i.e. the pacemaker is able to switch mode while on DDD mode.
