don't we just call this an ambulance in the UK? It's a seated vehicle I think.

"hospital car" / ambulance taxi
I don't believe we have an exact equivalent category, but basically, it means a specialist taxi (i.e. seated, not lying down as in an ambulance), but with a driver who is specially qualified for accompanying patients.
"ambulance taxi" might do by way of explanation, since in fact the "hospital car service" as I knew it in the UK used to be mainly a voluntary thing, i.e. not with specially-trained professional staff

: Yes. Was explaining to English neighbours the diff. between "ambulance" and "SAMU/SMUR", and the commented that the ones with blue stars would be much the same as "hospital cars" // Not yet.
