French term

grossesse exposée par mégarde

French to English Medical Medical: Pharmaceuticals
"La découverte d’une grossesse exposée par mégarde à ce médicament n'en justifie pas l'interruption"
Is the implication here one of "due to improper use" or rather "despite proper use", or something else altogether?
I've done a fair bit of googling but can't find anything definitive.
Thanks in advance.

Discussion

Drmanu49 Nov 12, 2008:
inadvertent exposure to this medication during pregnancy does not consitute grounds for termination of pregnancy (abortion)
Jonathan MacKerron (asker) Nov 12, 2008:
something like: "inadvertent exposure to this medication during pregnancy does not consitute grounds for termination (of pregnancy or the medication itself?)"
Jonathan MacKerron (asker) Nov 12, 2008:
I'm afraid I still don't really understand the whole concept here: is this 'pregnancy occurring during treatment with this medication" (implying that the user has not strictly adhered to the instructions?), and what is being interrupted, the treatment or the pregnancy? Is this sentence purposely veiled?

Thanks, does the 'interruption' refer to the medication or the pregnancy??
Peer comment(s):

agree Kate Deimling : perhaps change to "during pregnancy" to be less wordy, but this seems totally correct to me.

Liz, thanks for the refs. Do you understand 'termination' here to refer to the pregnancy or to the medication itself?
