I have "ingots" for "lingots", and I think "slices" is better than what I had ("sections"). It does get more hits on Google - relevant hits.

Okay. Ingots or bars or bullion but I would go for ingots/bars as this is actually used for gold. Not sure about the slices 'tho. Can you check google for that?

I think tranche in this case means the edge where the cutting tool was applied which is why you need to check them.
