A "barre" can be many things, but an electrical busbar is one of them. See e.g. http://www.siemens.ca/web/portal/fr/ProductsServicesFR/Pages... "La première peut être alimentée directement par le dessus, par câble ou par conduite de barre blindée." But the ST gives no clue as to what kind of "barre" is meant.

Lavinia, have you checked Google's images resource to put you on track? There are a number of shots illustrating what those things look like. From what I saw, I would describe them in Australian English as "rod condu'" if there is such a term. I would think that their purpose would be to protect steel rod sheaf like structures from corrosion to give them a longer life.
Following that link you may find a definition for those. Will keep looking...
