sheathings
I think that a number of conductors are retained inside a series of concentric sheathings.

: Not 'sheathings' — it is uncountable. The same problem exists to some extent with 'casing' too... although it can be countable, it doesn't really work in this particular context.

French term (edited):
revêtements
layers of cladding
The trouble is, most of the options in EN using -ing are going to be uncountable, so this sort of solution may be necessary in order to correctly render the plural here.

We sometimes talk about a cable having an outer 'sheath' or 'jacket', but we can't really apply that term to multiple internal layers, unless we say something like 'the conductors are sheathed within several layers of different materials' etc.
