...est un lieu de villégiature exceptionnel pour partir à la découverte de l’extraordinaire diversité de cette vallée ***au charme millénaire*** : pittoresques villages, excursions en moyenne montagne et cures thermales spécialisées.

valley with olde worlde charm? Can anyone suggest a better way of saying this?

This is taken from marketing-orientated copy for a Chateau in France which has apparently been developed into a luxury residence for older people, and it gives very poetic descriptions of the area. I need to keep a slightly poetic feel to it, but can't think of how else to say this. Suggestions appreciated. Thanks
