reader. If it's a standard of some sort the the approach is totally different. Some context clarification would help.

If this is FR>EN then we're talking about an an EN answer. "tons" means a weight meaning 20 cwt or 2240 lb. In this sense it's translated into 'tones'. If the document is about the manual of a users' telephone then mention of CCIR in EN just confuses the
