French term

activité informative, démonstrative et gustative

French to English Art/Literary Tourism & Travel workshop
I can't seem to come up with anything that sounds good and gets the point across. "An activity that is informative, demonstrative and gustative" sounds terrible in English. I came up with "an activity for the eyes, ears and taste buds" but I'm not sure if makes sense and has the same meaning. Basically, the activity provides information, shows you things about tea and has you taste the tea. How do I put that in a nice little sentence?

Discussion

Tamara Salvio Mar 28, 2006:
I don't think so...there's no reason to go creative with this part of the course description as it's essential to telling potential participants what to expect. Also, it's a tea tasting, not pastries, so no need to get *too* excited :-)
Mark Nathan Mar 28, 2006:
Information session and lecture sound too serious to me. I liked your taste buds suggestion - it strikes the right balance.
Tamara Salvio Mar 28, 2006:
Hi Pina - I actually started to propose "information session" but then nixed it for the shorter "lecture" ... Now that I rethink it, I believe you're right - information session sounds more fun than a lecture ;-)
PB Trans (asker) Mar 28, 2006:
Tamara what do you think of information session instead of lecture? I don't want it to sound too academic.

Where do I sign up - sounds like fun!

I think 'activite' is best left off, turning those adjectives into action-oriented nouns.

where you can see, sip and savour (everything down to a t!)

One suggestion, if you can afford to be free - the bit in brackets is optional.

a captivating experience in tea tasting?

An interesting, captivating, taste experience. I don't know how one gains satisfaction with your ears from drinking tea, though! LOL
