: I think the point is that you hand your bus ticket to the cashier when shopping in the Altstadt and get a discount equivalent to the fare

sounds plausible Ian .... I've never seen this system in action but certainly would be a great way of getting consumers to come through the door :)

On some bus lines to heavy tourist areas(Reno,nv, a rebate or offset is sometimes given.
