As much as I hate to say it, I believe they specialty chain stores or franchises like mediamarkt, Saturn, and the like. Example in the web reference below although it only deals with Elektro-Fachmärkte.

: I'm with Tamara. This is more than just a specialty store. You've translated Spezialgeschäfte. @ Steffen: I believe we're talking francise against specialty here. See my suggestion below.
