Greetings

Someone in Larissa, who I think was a member of the KKE, made this remark to me while complaining about having to work past the age of 65. From the context, it was obvious that by ‘εδω’, he meant Greece.
But is this the idea of going backwards (πάει πίσω προς τα πίσω) i.e. getting worse and worse, or simply of not advancing as quickly as one might hope (καθυστερεί)?

Or could it be both?
