I think "encircle" is great; it conveys the same image as the Greek, since βρόχος is a thin circle. As for the spelling, confusing βρόχος with βρόγχος is a very common error (especially with doctors, who are notoriously bad at spelling and who love the cluster -γχ- because it sounds so "ancient Greek"). :-)

Hi Dimitri Yes, I wondered about that and I did think of βρόχος, so I came up with "encircle", which is not bad. Could this be a Greek portmanteau word (περιβροχίζω + βρόγχος)? I see that περιβρογχίζει gets plenty of hits in a web search.

Hello, Philip! Note that the Greek is spelt incorrectly, it should be περιβροχίζω (from βρόχος = loop). In other instances, it could be translated with "ensnare".
