Greek term

όπλιζε

Greek to English Tech/Engineering Ships, Sailing, Maritime
'Εγινε επισκευή στην βοηθητική επαφή του ΜΑΙΝ CONTACTOR στον ΔΕ FAN διότι δεν όπλιζε ώστε βα δώσει σήμα στην βαλβίδα για να γίνει OPEN το VALVE της καταθλίψεως του FAN.

I don't know what όπλιζε means here.

Discussion

Nick Lingris Jan 27, 2012:
Οπλίζω is also used intransitively, e.g. http://www.google.gr/search?ix=hca&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&...
"Trip" (in the passive) would do nicely.
D. Harvatis Jan 27, 2012:
"trip" certainly fits in this case!
Dylan Edwards (asker) Jan 27, 2012:
The English word "trip" (in the sense of "activate") is used a number of times in these documents, so I wonder whether they mean "trip" here.

One meaning of "arm" (I looked it up) is "activate" (the fuse of a bomb, etc.).

With όπλιζε, I'd expect a direct object...

Anyway, there seems little doubt that some kind of activation is meant here.
