Escuela Primaria Las Positas

Declined
Hola Rudy.
"Las Positas" es el nombre de una escuela primaria situada en la parte norte del Condado Orange en el Distrito Escolar de la Ciudad de La Habra.

Tal vez te sirva esta información:

"Las Positas School, located in North Orange County, is one of nine schools in the La Habra City
School District. The beautiful park-like campus is situated on a knoll next to Imperial Middle
School in the hills south of Imperial Highway. Sandi Baltes is the Principal of this efficient and
effective school, which boasts a student population of 750 students in third, fourth and fifth
grades. The effectiveness of Las Positas School is clearly the result of strong and caring
instruction and instructional leadership. The leadership at Las Positas is a “team effort” which
utilizes the skills and knowledge of the principal, classroom teachers, support staff and
parent/community volunteers. Our leadership accents shared decision making as demonstrated
by the close working of the Leadership Team, School Site Council, Parent Advisory and
Information Board, and PTA. The model curriculum is aligned with state standards and framework
guidelines, and carefully and professionally administered by classroom instructors.
All staff members at Las Positas encourage regular and prompt attendance, knowing how
important these are to school and life success. Students are given recognition for good and
perfect attendance. Our classes average 26 students per class."

Buena suerte y saludos del Oso ¶:^)

Olvidé añadir que La Habra es una ciudad en California, Estados Unidos.

\"Las Positas\" se conserva igual por tratarse de un nombre propio.

las pocitas

Here goes the explanation. This is more related to Santa Barbara, CA since it refers to a place name there. There is even a "Las Positas Rd." exit along Hwy. 101.

It refers to a place where there were small water holes ("wells") that can be called "pozos" today or "pozas" in the old days, which ended up being spelled "positas", the latter a diminutive form because they were small. Many early Californians were not so literate and their Spanish was a bit variable.

If you check on the Net you can find this information; I am replying from memory but I have seen the above information. You are not the first one to ask the question.
