LEARNING OBJECTIVES

By the end of this training, you will be able to use Wordfast Pro to:
1. Create a translation project
2. Create a translation memory and glossaries
3. Import TMs and glossaries
4. Analyze a file
5. Translate, edit, and proofread DOC, HTML, XLS, and PPT files
6. Customize your keyboard shortcuts
7. Integrate machine translation into your workflow


COURSE OUTLINE

E-learning modules to be completed during the week before the training (4 hours):
- Why use CAT tools?
- Wordfast versions
- Downloading and installing Wordfast Pro
- Troubleshooting
- Creating a translation project
- Workflow brainstorming

In-person training (6 hours):
- Creating projects and setting up preferences with Wordfast Pro
- TM and Terminology management
- Analyzing files using Wordfast Pro
- Translating different file types
- Working with placeables
- Cleaning up and updating TMs
- Using the PM Plug-in perspective
- Tips and Tricks
- Questions and evaluations

Working knowledge of MS Word and fluent in English.

Trainees must bring their own laptop for the training with an installed version of Wordfast Pro (demo or full version). If you are having problems installing the software please contact trainer before the training day.

Bio: Born in Ústí nad Labem, Milan has lived next to Ostrava for the past 50 years. He graduated from VSB Ostrava with a degree in Economics. Prior to becoming an entrepreneur in 1991, he worked as a postal clerk, postmaster, statistician and chief accountant for 23 years. He began using Wordfast in 2001, and is responsible for the rough Czech translation of the Wordfast Classic manual. He manages a Wordfast mailing list http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/Wordfast_CZ/, founded in 2002, and that now has 185 members. Milan began providing Wordfast trainings in 2003 and MetaTexis trainings in 2005. He creates a short HTML presentation for certain features or resources (VLTM, MT: web or desktop + WF Classic, IWS, CATs) based on client needs. They are published on www.condak.net and on CD-ROM. He has been retired since January 2010, but still runs the company he set up in 2005 for training purposes, Condak.net s.r.o. He speaks Czech and is fluent in Slovak, English and Russian. He can also get by in German, Polish and French.

Bio: John Di Rico traduis depuis 2005 et se spécialise dans la traduction financière et marketing du français vers l'anglais. Son entreprise actuelle, ApexTra, est basée à Nice en France. John a commencé à proposer des formations professionnelles pour traducteurs en 2006. Il forme des traducteurs à l'utilisation des logiciels Wordfast ainsi qu'à la gestion de projet. Il a également enseigné l'anglais en France et au Vietnam et est un formateur certifié par la JCI pour l'enseignement aux adultes. Enfin, depuis 2007, il organise des congrès professionnels de traducteurs en France avec le concours de ProZ.com. En 2010-2011, John a voyagé autour du monde et a formé plus de 75 traducteurs dans 15 pays, y compris les traducteurs de la Mission des Nations Unies au Timor oriental. Il a également représenté Wordfast LLC à de nombreuses conférences professionnelles, notamment des conférences de l'American Translators' Association, d'IMTT Language and Technology et de GALA.
