Translation - English One of the characteristic features of our material civilisation and modern societies is the little or no regard for oral tradition, and the knowledge and wisdom that the natives of different lands have accumulated during millenaries. Sometimes we forget that we ourselves used to belong to these very societies. We don’t hesitate to qualify their culture as primitive, or even barbaric. The example of the Americas is very eloquent and speaks volumes.

From 1978 to 1999 I was based in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire (West Africa) and coordinating translation works between the three Offices (Abidjan, Nairobi and Harare) of the Continental Board of Counsellors. My job was basically to supervise the translation from and into French/English, and to ensure that all the English-speaking and French-speaking countries in Africa simultaneously received the same information.
