Source text - Chinese 古代没有拼音,就使用反切,就是用两个认识会念的字,取第一个的声母,取第二个的韵母,拼合起来就行了.
Translation - English In the past there wasn't any pinyin system, they just use Fanqie system, ( two characters first one start with syllable which start with none consonant (shen mo) (or the beginning of the character, the second part called yun mu which includes the medial part and the last part of the pronunciation of the character) .assembling them together is ok too.
In the past Hui clan younger brothers don't study characters they used to study Arabic language, but they used Arabic letters to represent Chinese pronunciations.
So that was the old chinese pin yin.
Mongol dynasty, Mongolia's rulers needed to change the Chinese pinyin from Tibetan charcters to make kind of Chinese language called Basibazi.
