A >refinement on the system< is to correct for temperature. By placing a temperature sensitive aperture in the line to the Pitot chamber the amount of Pitot pressure can be altered. This is called True Airspeed (TAS). In the types of instruments described here it would be done by way of a bimetallic strip that constricts the flow to the capsule. More modern systems tend to do the same job electronically.
