English term or phrase: [this difficult thing] that can get to anyone and into anywhere

Contexte :

"I went with the script and then when his family died I put him into this dark world. Because his brother was in a military place and dad was hard working and mom was hard working, when everyone died he became more into a dark place. He is a smart guy. He may have put himself through different types of schooling to become this difficult thing that can get to anyone and into anywhere."

Je n'arrive pas à rendre cette fin de phrase ici "become this difficult thing that can get to anyone and into anywhere"

Merci

Explanation:
Well, I might as well post an answer (taken from yours in Disc) since no one else has done so...

I've put the "torturé"/"sans doute" in brackets as I'm not convinced they are necessary but you are the best judge of that:-)
