I would have said - probably not "audit" in strictly financial sense but in the sense of "taking a close look at the subject of", in the same way that a quality audit isn't financial either.

The difference is not huge, admittedly, but whereas \"audit\" as a noun has widened its scope from the purely financial sense to, as I said, meaning \"examine closely\", the verb and gerund seem to remain largely restricted to the financial sense.
