ProZ.com powwow: Out of the office for some socialising

Fellow linguists in the West Midlands and beyond, come and join us at the Ort Café on Saturday, 10th November from 2pm.

Most of us know how isolated and solitary it can feel doing our job. This powwow is an opportunity to meet fellow professionals, seasoned translators and budding language enthusiasts alike, exchange experiences, discuss ideas and simply socialise with like-minded people.

The venue I’ve chosen is unlike any other - an art and community cafe and bar, quite different from the venues we’ve used in the past, and I hope you like it. Plus, they usually have some freshly baked cakes! It’s not in central Birmingham but it's only about 10-15 min on the bus 50 route and is very easy to get to. It is located in the Old Print Works in Balsall Heath, opposite Moseley Road Baths, 500-504 Moseley Road, B12 9AH. The bus stop is a stone’s throw away from the café. In Birmingham city centre you can get the 50 from the bus stop at the back of Selfridges (opposite Moor Street Station). For further info about Ort go to www.ortcafe.co.uk.

I look forward to seeing you all. Regulars and newcomers are warmly welcome.

Milen

and a gas guzzler... is parking available near the venue?
Milen and Ina know my family duties on Saturdays and I can't leave Walsall before 1.15/1.20 pm.. If I came in the car, it might be faster than with train+ buses.

Parking near the venue Oct 26, 2012

I don't think you can park on Moseley Road because there are yellow lines and a bus lane, but you can park in one of the side streets, where there are no parking restrictions at all, all within 40-50 metres of Ort. Assuming you are coming from Birmingham City Centre and driving along Moseley Road, these would be Lime Grove (on the left, just before Ort), Edward Rd (on the right, just after the cafe) and Clifton Rd (on the left, after the cafe). I hope you can make it.
