Üsküdar Üniversitesi NPİSTANBUL Beyin Hastanesi Uzman Klinik Psikolog Nuran Günana, çocukların yalan söyleme nedenleri hakkında bilgiler paylaştı ve ebeveynlere önemli tavsiyelerde bulundu.
5 yaşında gerçeklikle yalanı kavramaya başlıyorlar.
Çocuklar neden yalan söyler ve yalan söyleyen çocuğa nasıl davranılması gerekir? konusu ile sıklıkla karşılaştıklarını belirten Klinik Psikolog Nuran Günana, "6 yaşından küçük çocuklar gerçeklik ve fanteziyi ayırt etmekte güçlük çekerler. Hayal güçleri gelişmiş olduğu için ve gerçeklik duygusu henüz oluşmadığından hayallerle ilgili ifadeleri gerçek gibi anlatmaları normaldir. Çocuklar 5 yaşından itibaren gerçeklikle yalanı fark etmeye ve kavramaya başlar. Eğer 7 yaş sonrası yalan söyleme eylemi hala devam ediyorsa dikkat edilmesi gerekir" dedi.
Günana, üzerinde oluşan baskı sonucu çocuğun yalan söyleyebileceğine dikkat çekti ve sözlerine şöyle devam etti:
Çocuklar yanlış yapmaktan korktuğunda, ebeveynlerini hayal kırıklığına uğratmaktan ya da onlar tarafından cezalandırılmaktan korktuğunda yalan söyler. Yalan söylemek çocuğun yanlış bir şey yaptığının farkında olduğunu gösterir. Çocuk ödevini tamamlamadıysa bu sorunu yalan söyleyerek ve yaptığını söyleyerek çözmeye çalışır. Sokağa çıkma izni dolmasına rağmen eve geç gelen bir çocuk da nerede ve kiminle olduğu konusunda yalan söyleyebilir. Yalan söylemek, sonuçlarla yüzleşmek yerine onlardan kaçınmak için kullanılır. Expert clinical psychologist Nuran Gunana from Uskudar University NPISTANBUL Brain Hospital shared information regarding the reasons for children to lie and gave critical suggestions to parents.
At 5 years old they begin to grasp the concepts of reality and falsehood.
Clinical Psychologist Nuran Gunana, who indicated that they frequently encounter the questions; why do children tell lies and how should a lying child be treated? Said, ''Children younger than the age of 6 have difficulties distinguishing between reality and fantasy. Because they have advanced imaginations and have not yet developed the feeling of reality, it is normal for them to explain imaginative expressions as if they were real. Children begin to realise and grasp reality and falsehood from the age of 5. If the act of lying continues after the age of 7, it needs to be paid close attention''.
Gunana pointed out that the child may lie as a result of the pressure that's been put on him/her and continued her words as follows:
When children are afraid of doing something wrong, they chose to lie as they are afraid to disappoint, or to be punished by their parents. Telling a lie shows that the child is aware that he did something wrong. If the child did not complete her homework, she would try to solve this by lying and saying that she did complete it. A child that arrived home late despite passing his curfew time may also lie about where and with whom he was. Lying is used to avoid consequences instead of confronting them. Sometimes it is due to them not knowing how to deal with a problem. If he is lying for not completing his homework in time, this is due to him not being able to figure out how to complete his homework in time. Or they may choose to lie when they cannot find a way to deal with conflicts. Thus, lying is some sort of a problem solving issue, an issue of lack of skills and avoiding consequences.
Gunana, who expressed that parents must be cautious on this issue and that they should try to understand why their children are lying, mentioned, ''Many parents think that their children lie in order to obtain something or to run away from something that they do not want to do. However, children may also have other reasons along with this motivation in terms of lying. One reason may be wanting to see what would happen as a result of discovering a new idea. So they may lie to their parents or try to trick other people with assumptions such as, 'what would happen if I lie about this issue, what would the person confronting me do or how would they react? What would I gain from this?
