Where to turn to Aug 24, 2009

I quite agree. This should never have been started as a thread.

If this forum should have never started as a thread, then where should I turn to?

I've already discussed this issue with a site staff in the past by submitting a support ticket, but there was nothing that could been done. I wanted to know how others would react or what kind of actions they would take if they were in the same situation I am facing right now.

I know some people who have been harassed or criticized for no justified reasons, leading some of them to leave KudoZ or even unsubscribing from Proz. The only difference between those people and me is that I brought up this topic in a public forum, whereas they kept to themselves. I was a bit encouraged learning that there are other victims suffering from similar experiences and that I am not the only one.

I will take your suggestion under advice Aug 24, 2009

Yasutomo, if you feel some colleagues are not behaving professionally, or even worse, they are being rude and/or are destroying the good psychological climate on the community platform, you will do best by ignoring them. Opening threads like this only feeds such characters. They are fed by your reaction, regardless of what it is like.

So, now you know what you are to do in the future. Or rather what you are NOT to do.

"Ignore mode" works wonders.

Thank you Lingua 5B, for your useful comments. I think I will go with your advice, since it seems that yours seems to be the most appropriate approach to handle such matters. You are one of the few people who really understands the real issue here.

I feel extremely uncomfortable for the colleague being accused of all this "stalking" and I do wish he/she is aware of this discussion. Anyone can easily spot his/her name. And in the end, isn't there such thing as "libel" (a method of defamation expressed by print, writing, pictures or signs... I still can't decide which move to make.

Honestly Yasumoto, this thread is too long already. The only sensible ways of action are:
A) If you consider that this person is stalking you, issue a support ticket for Proz's team to evaluate. If they say that this person is NOT stalking, then you clearly misinterpreted the situation for some reason (Proz always takes very firm action against incorrect behaviour as far as I can tell after being here for a decade). If Proz say there is no stalking, then the matter is finished in my opinion.

B) Email this person frankly expressing your concerns, instead of airing them around and worry other users about a situation that you could be misinterpreting.

These are the only sensible and sincere ways of action. I would consider any other way of action a bit suspicious, to be honest.

What do you mean by you were sent examples of the responses that you have made? Did someone tell you that the stalker I'm talking about is Mr. XX or M(r)s. YY?

You say that my responses were so rude and insulting, plus unprofessional, but can't you understand why? This particular stalker has been harassing me all along, for some reason I haven't found out yet. In fact, after I started this forum more than 48 hours ago, A has accessed my profile, particularly the KudoZ section including "answered" for more than 45 times. Just to let you know, up till today, A's total visits amount to 60. Is A a crawler (well, in a sense A might be called a crawler since this person has been crawling around my KudoZ area)? Am I all imagining things or overreacting? I don't think so.

If it were possible, I would like to give you the all the details of this person with the exact name to help everybody's time making guessing who I'm talking about, but I'm not allowed to do that. FYI, there were few postings which were already deleted from this forum, since they contained information leading to identifying this particular person.

The only thing I could say is that Ger-Eng pair is just one example, but this person is turning up everywhere I go. That's why A is accessing my profile to see in which language pairs I have contributed to.

Of course I will not give further details here.
a) because it is not for me to do so;
b) because it would be highly unprofessional;
c) because this is the wrong forum for such a discussion.

You know which of your responses were deleted, as do the site staff. Please, as Tomás suggests, take an official route with this.

How do you know the identity of "A"? Aug 24, 2009

One thing that intrigues me: Even as a paying member, you do not have access to that information, do you?
You only get to see the IPs on the visitors' tab, and when you click on it, you can see the country / region / Internet service.
If the person is logged in, you can see their quality too: freelancer, outsourcer...

1) A lives in a particular country where I don't get any access or even if I do it's rare.
2) The same IP address for more than 60 visits.
3) Logged in.

Sorry, but that's all I can say here.

Regards

Yasutomo

Clarification Aug 24, 2009

Hi Yasutomo,

Firstly, I'm sorry that you feel you're being "stalked". That can't be very pleasant, and you have my sympathy.

Having looked through your Kudoz stats, I calculate that so far this month (August) you have answered 173 Kudoz questions in 22 different language combinations, which is pretty impressive!

However, restricting myself to the language combinations with which I'm most familiar (Dutch -> English and German -> English), I can't really see

However, restricting myself to the language combinations with which I'm most familiar (Dutch -> English and German -> English), I can't really see any evidence of "stalking", only various people disagreeing with your answers and, in some cases, agreeing with them.

So, can you please specify in what language combinations you believe the stalking is taking place. Is it restricted to one or two combinations, or is it more widespread?

Best wishes,
