That's my position also. The next virtual conference needs a simple consistent uniform way of finding out what is happening (events etc. with and without scheduled times), and going to the one of interest at the time. Example of wrong way: I discovered somewhere that virtual powwow XX is in chatroom YY of the virtual environment. So I go to the virtual environment - cannot see anything called "chatroom" - neither in the displayed texts, nor in the menus, Eventually discover that this is chat YY of networking lounge A or B, and I had to select the lounge, not a chatroom, from a menu!

It's not easy, a virtual conference. It has quite some demands on bandwidth. Proz.com has often been a problem when it comes to speed, but now it's really bad. Especially if you also connect to Twitter, it's really really slow. Proz should take more precautions for something like this. But there are also other things. E.g: you can only have one chat session open at the same time. As such, that's not illogical. If you're at a real conference, you can also only be at one place ... Some piece of advice: if you want to check the boxes for LinkedIn, Twitter and/or Facebook, it might be the best to first log in to those services, and only after you have done that, check the boxes. It might save time and prevent your pc from blocking up. | | | My first conference | Sep 30, 2010 |
I just spend a couple of hours in the conference area and I loved it! I listened to good and informative panel discussions and interacted with some other attendees and visited some interesting vendor booths. Unfortunately, my work day is already coming to an end, so I had to leave. But I want to send a big thank you to ProZ! It was a really nice event to take part in! | | | I do not see a way to go to any of the events that are listet under "sessions" above - | Sep 30, 2010 |

Your are perfectly right. There should be only one site for the event. It cannot be that content is shown on two different sites that do not interact.
Here they are called sessions or meetings or events. In the Lounges there are Chats. I simply do not see anyway to get access to any of the events listed above.
On the main site for the conference, the top navigation bar is constantly disappearing behind the messages field. This is so crammed and unwieldy that I am now closing all related sites and go about my business.
I judge this Virtual Conference - from my point of view - as a complete non-starter.

Try to set the Conference (and only) in one puter and the rest (email, twitter, fbook, browser, MSN etc.) in another: e.g. notebook & main puter, your machine & the confiscated (wink) wife or son/daughter notebook

Having a DETAILED outline, I believe would help a number of us to arrive on the same page with everyone else, especially those of us that are new to the event Thanks in advance . . . ▲ Collapse

It's my first virtual conference and I am impressed and very, very thankful for having this possibility. This day is a big bit forward for me, and when this conference is finish I am going to summery it in whole:
What, begin with? How schedule the topic which actually are very important for me?
I am so glad about everything I have award and attend during this day.

A good conference in general, however, the chat windows were overcrowded, to the point of it being impossible to follow a sentence from start to finish, it kept jumping up with every new entry. Functionality wise, this conference was better than last year's and I'm sure next year will outdo this one. Chapeau, Proz.com!

You know, the most amusing thing was having all those people around wondering where to find the "rooms" they wanted to go to. At times, the "auditorium" sounded more like the information counter of a convention centre.
Maybe next time there should be a preliminary guide around the "venue". I made a quip about a seminar on how to attend virtual seminars and was surprised to find so many people who agreed. | | | Ltemes Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες Αμερικής Local time: 02:14 Αγγλικά σε Ισπανικά + ... Totally overwhelmed | Sep 30, 2010 |
I was totally overwhelmed by the abundance of content and, in fact, I'm trying to find out how to get back to the darn conference to see if I can listen to at least one session from beginning to end. I found myself jumping from event to event, because I was worried I was somehow "missing out". In the end, this meant that I really didn't meet anyone. The chats, as others have said, where equally 'schizo' in that all I saw was people introducing themselves and then that was it, end of the conversa... The chats, as others have said, where equally 'schizo' in that all I saw was people introducing themselves and then that was it, end of the conversation. I'm also totally bummed that at 6:00 pm EST it's all already over. How can that be? I had a full work day and participated about 20 minutes at lunch time and was hoping to now really jump in and participate and it's over now. I mentioned that in the post event survey. Somehow, things should stay open for those of us who work the full day and are located in the EST time zone (East Coast of the U.S.). For those in the PST time zone (West Coast of the U.S.) it probably was even worse given the time difference with GMT. In any case, I actually liked last year's conference better. It seemed more manageable. One thing I do want to know, is there a way to get back and check some of the discussions or sessions/presentations on our own time? Thanks for any tips. I also don't know who won the prizes and how that was done. I read the prize info. (I mean, hey, who doesn't want to win a prize, right?) and I was still confused. So, is there a listing of who won what? Thanks ProZ for doing such a huge effort, but maybe a bit too huge? I imagine I'm in the minority here with this opinion, but again, my feeling was one of being totally overwhelmed.

I cannot find the information when the prizes are to be drawn? Is there going to be a special announcement or should I look for some kind of list?
