English term

snow ranger

English to Spanish Other Tourism & Travel
I teamed up with my good friend Al Soucie, the Forest Service snow ranger at Alta, who used to work for me as an avalanche forecaster at the Utah Avalanche Center.

"Ed Chapelle was a snow-science expert and part of the pioneering crew of Forest Service snow rangers at Alta, Utah, who laid the groundwork for ski area avalanche-control programs. "

Note from asker:

"Snow rangers are mountain professionals. Armed with expertise acquired through years in the backcountry, they’re emergency medical technicians, expert skiers or snowboarders, and accomplished rock and ice climbers. Joosen, Lane, and Johnston all began their mountain apprenticeships as AMC caretakers at Hermit Lake, where they learned the science of avalanche forecasting and the harsh winter weather in the Whites. They explored every gully and slope of the two ravines— knowledge they now use to assess avalanche danger and to keep the mountain’s backcountry users safe."

"A Snow Ranger takes the task of a regular Park Ranger and blast it to the next level. No stranger to adventure, as a Snow Ranger you patrol the slopes and mountain peaks to make sure those who are having fun in the snow are kept safe. While a snowy range of cliffs might be a beautiful scene to wake up to, it can also harbor hazards for anyone venturing in the park area."
