Mε κάθε επιφύλαξη...
Δυνατότητα προσέγγισης βαποριού στην αποβάθρα (ντόκο, κρηπίδωμα κ.λπ) και αγκυροβόλησης και άλλων πλοίων. Για αυτό και όπως φαίνεται από τον τελευταίο σύνδεσμο, υπάρχει διαφορά στο βάθος προς ξηρά και στο ωφέλιμο βάθος.
To eurodicautom (με extend) δίνει αρκετά quay as well για το κρηπίδωμα.
The river bed consists of soft mud and gravel, and there is no record of any vessel sustaining damage through taking the bottom. Vessels normally berth port side to, and swing round on departure. The total length of quays is 645m.
Citadel Quay South (including Central Quay) length 205m, depth alongside 5.0m below chart datum
Citadel Quay North length 100.00m, depth alongside 3.0m below chart datum

Number 1 Berth is 244 metres long. Depth alongside is 14.5 metres. Depth in the harbour and swinging basin is 14.5 metres. Indicative limitations on ships operating onto Number 1 Berth have a loaded draft of 13.20 metres, LOA 225 metres

: Yep, το βάθος του νερού δίπλα στην αποβάθρα φαίνεται να είναι αυτό που εμείς λέμε ωφέλιμο βάθος. Και μ' αρέσει και η λεπτομέρεια (chart datum) για μέρη με παλίρροια. Γηράσκω αεί... (με την έμφαση πια στο "γηράσκω"). // Αμάν με τα του Καίσαρος!

Καλησπέρα, Ιωάννα. Δεν μου πολυαρέσει η σύνταξη με τα δύο 'of' στη σειρά αλλά θα επανέλθω αν σκεφτώ κάτι καλύτερο.
Refueling piping and hose show show as stored in three locations: inside port breakwater, under gangway (brow), under port overhang of aft superstructure and under starboard overhang of aft superstructure. Brow (gangplank) hangs inside port breakwater, over refueling piping.

Αν δεν παινέψεις το σπίτι σου εσύ... :-) Συμφωνώ πέρα για πέρα με το 'with' κι ας αφήσουμε το 'wharf' και το 'quay' μόνο γιατί δεν ξέρω τι ακριβώς είναι το κρηπίδωμα στο κείμενο της Ιωάννας. Αν και το 'quay' αποδίδεται κυρίως ως 'αποβάθρα', σωστά;
